Outdoor and marquee weddings in the Hunter Valley
Ceremonies happen in the open air on a private 80-acre estate on the edge of Lovedale, and you choose how much cover the reception has: open air, one or two spider marquees, or an enclosed marquee hired in. There is no barn and no vineyard here, just paddocks, gum trees, farm tracks and a fire pit, held for one wedding at a time.

Mature trees give natural shade and a quieter, more sheltered feel, with the paddocks still in frame behind you.
Reception, your way
Open air, under one or two spider marquees, or inside an enclosed marquee you hire in. Level marquee ground and a bricked area under the festoon lights for the DJ.
Fire pit after dark
The fire pit is where most weekends end: it can burn late into the night once amplified music finishes at 11 pm. It is lit and managed with the venue, and is subject to weather and any fire restrictions in force on your date.
Four ways to hold your reception.
A marquee is never compulsory here. Choose the level of cover that suits your date, your guest count and how much you want in reserve.
Open air
No structure at all: long tables under the sky, festoon lights and the paddocks around you. The most common choice in settled weather, and it costs nothing extra.
One spider marquee
$1,000. Shade and some light-rain cover over the heart of the reception, subject to wind and weather.
Two spider marquees
$2,000. More covered area for dining and dancing, with the same weather conditions applying.
An externally hired enclosed marquee
An externally hired, fully enclosed marquee is the option for dependable protection from heavy rain, strong wind or cold. You hire it from your own marquee company; there is no preferred list and no fee for bringing one in.
Spider marquees provide shade and some light-rain cover, subject to wind and weather. They are not fully enclosed all-weather structures.
Venue hire stays at $8,800 including GST for the exclusive-use weekend, and marquee cover sits alongside it as an optional addition rather than being folded into the base price. An outdoor wedding is a decision about weather as much as setting. Nobody can promise you a forecast, so the useful thing is knowing what each part of the year tends to ask of your plan here in the lower Hunter Valley.
Summer
Long evenings and late light, but the afternoon can be hot. Couples marrying in summer usually push the ceremony later, use the gum trees or a spider marquee for shade, and plan water and shade for guests during pre-dinner drinks. Fire pit use is subject to any fire restrictions in force on your date.
Autumn
Softer light, cooler evenings and the most forgiving conditions for an open-air reception. Sunset comes earlier, so the ceremony moves earlier with it and the fire pit earns its place after dinner.
Winter
Clear, cold and quiet, with morning mist across the paddocks. This is the season where an externally hired enclosed marquee and heating are worth budgeting for from the start rather than holding in reserve, and where the fire pit does the most work.
Spring
Green paddocks and the most variable weather of the year: warm one weekend, wet and windy the next. Spring weddings here are the ones we most often plan a genuine cover option for, because a spider marquee handles light rain but not wind-driven rain.
Friday access allows time for setup and final adjustments. Suitable wet-weather cover needs to be arranged in advance, subject to supplier availability and the structure's operating limits. Yes. Ceremonies here are outdoors, and you choose the setting: open paddock, under mature gums, or facing the western light for a late-afternoon ceremony. There is no fixed ceremony position to work around.

The farmhouse is a four-bedroom home reserved for accommodation, not a reception space.
Is there a barn or a vineyard on the property?
No. Adeline Estate is a working rural property, not a barn venue and not a winery. The setting is open paddocks, gum trees, a fire pit and farm tracks, with the wineries about 10 minutes away.
Where can the dance floor and DJ go?
On level open ground near the reception area. Your DJ can set up wherever suits your layout, including a bricked area under the festoon lights. Amplified music runs until 11 pm before the evening moves to the fire pit.
